Thursday, August 21st, 2008I mean, uh, “Guess the Google”
Can you guess what search term was used to find the image at left? If your guess was “president goober” you’re right, and have already scored points. Now try Guess-the-Google, a simple Flash-based game in which you’re presented with a grid of images and have twenty seconds to guess the search word that generated them. You get bonuses for guessing quickly. More addictive than you’d think. By default the game launches in a smaller window; try this link to open the game full-size in your browser, which I found much easier to view. My best score so far was 310. Yes, that’s a challenge. Bring it on people.

Saturday, August 16th, 200818 Ways to Morph Your Photo On Line
You’ve probably seen the Elf Yourself ad campaign or the MyHeritage Celebrity Lookalike gizmo , but Mashable.com shows us 18 Ways to Get Your Head in the Game. Upload a picture of yourself to any of a number of sites, and soon you can be one of the Villlage People, a Wanted Criminal, or see your face on the cover of Rockstar magazine . Before you know it, you will have wasted an afternoon, and want to come back here and kill me for it. The Morphable image on the left is from MyHeritage. It was a little disturbing to find that I look like Bruce Willis and Howard Dean (and who the heck is Stephen Chow, anyway) but Drew Barrymore? If only I looked like Drew…my lesbian friends all adore her, she always gets a great table at restaurants…the only drawback would be being chased by whack jobs like Tom Green…Anyway, feel free to post links to your results in the comments.

Thursday, August 7th, 2008..if you’re so smart, why are you wasting your time reading this?
So, you passed those MENSA tests in Reader’s Digest when you were a kid. You’ve got a college degree, and always do better than half the contestants on Jeopardy. You can do the NYT crossword puzzle in 20 minutes (okay, you can finish it on the day you started it). Well, I bet you can’t name the 100 most common words in the English language in 5 minutes, or name the world’s 50 largest countries in 5 minutes either. “But those don’t really test intelligence” you’ll argue. So go ahead, try the not-so-fun Mensa Fun Test.
